Puerto El Morro 2009

My main task was aimed to create conditions to help make possible the overall process of the residence. The sensitivity of the people with whom I shared the experience of Puerto El Morro, made everything much easier. I speak both of the artists who arrived from outside how people who live in this amazing place in the Gulf of Guayaquil. Together, in an immersive process, we make the thought and public debate to become core material and constitutive core of a "work" that involved almost the entire population, in a staging of human interaction that was oriented more to understand and filled with meaning that time and space to project and fill things. Meanwhile I dedicated myself to produce certain effects of meaning in the space of the residence without leaving the prospect of greater long-term initiative that can be carried out by the community itself.

Another aspect was the training provided to young and talented artists who accompanied me Gabriela Bernal Moreno and Eduardo Carrera -.

The task of identifying community reference allowed me approaching the historical and cultural identity of the peoples Wankavilka Manteno-, the complexity of a unique ecosystem and the nuances of a process of territorial occupation with chaotic juxtapositions that only gain clarity on actions being made by the communities in the region, aimed at consolidating a process of claim and reassessment of their culture; alive in the stories of the elderly, in daily practice, knowledge and traditions, beliefs and values. This was an action that was favored by the other students do.

A situation of particular interest in my research was the discovery of the application of the local association "Ecoclub Los Delfines" to obtain permits and governmental funding for reforestation and monitoring mangrove areas. This interest was based on the knowledge of the new Ecuadorian constitution and certain laws to which I had access that made me be an opportunity for empowerment over these territories, part of these communities as vivisected in managing their spaces of origin. I am referring specifically to the paradigmatic case of the economic exploitation of mangrove areas by the shrimp industry in Ecuador totaling about 175,000 ha and ecosystem destruction that has not resulted in any direct benefit in their economies, educational systems or health, but rather the opposite.

From this emerging research approaches followed the natural mangrove system to elaborate on the new ecosystem restoration alternatives. These trips made by a committee composed of Mr. Figueroa Ubaldo team of "Los Delfines Ecoclub Association," Maria Fernanda Cartagena, Gabriela Bernal and Eduardo Javier Carrera and filmmakers Paola Lazo and Luzuriaga, were performed exploratory documentary and were georeferenced cartographic. Governmental, academic and environmental, etc. - They socioenvironmental stress points that generated a posteriori networks dialog pedagogical dimension, aimed at catalysing social prominence and various meetings with government actors, not evidenced both in the town of Puerto El Morro how in the city of Guayaquil were duly documented. Some of this material was turned over what input to "living map" of artist Fernando "Falco" Faconi and discussed through interviews of 94.7 Porteñas Waves, which makes up an investigation that is part of the corpus of the collective work.

A week of interviews in 94.7 Porteñas Waves

During the afternoon I conducted a program of 1 hour duration in the context of community radio experience carried out by the Centro Experimental Ear Wild.

This program topics such as health, new media, rural development, territorial planning, community integration, local cultural and spiritual traditions, art and other social and environmental issues were discussed.

To prepare the daily schedule, selecting topics and guests and conducting the interviews I counted with the collaboration of Paulina León, Gabriela Bernal, Eduardo Carrera besides the impeccable support and management Fabiano Cave, Mayra Estevez and Ana Maria Vela and Paulina Ramirez.

Another aspect was worked in the situation of conflict between various groups in the community disputes arising from historical-political and economic order.
